Trimming Long Hair
Trimming Long Hair - Fall Winter 2010 Hair Edition
Long hairstyles are a wonderful way to indicate that women take great pains in self-care and to look good. This is because admittedly, it takes some effort to grow and then to care and maintain long hairstyles in order for it to continue looking good.
There are many things you will need to bear in mind where caring for your long hairstyle is concerned; from washing to drying; to brushing and trimming. Each and every step of haircare requires nothing less than meticulous attention. I would like to touch specifically on the subject of trimming long hair. How do you go about doing it?
First of all, you should know that trimming is different compared to cutting. When we talk about hair trimming, the amount of hair cut is considerably less compared to cutting and usually involves anything between ¼ to ½ inch. Here's how to go about in trimming long hair.
• Determine the amount of hair to trim.
• Comb your hair from the front portion to the back including the sides.
• Part your hair upwards from the back of the neck and from ear to ear. Clip the remaining hair out of the way and part your hair into 3 sections in the back part. Start with the middle section and run your fingers down your hair. Hold the shaft with your second and third fingers.
• Trim the ends of your hair by using your fingers as a guide. Do this with all the 3 sections.
• Trim the front and sides by combing your hair straight down on the sides and onto your face on the front and trim the same way as you did with the end.
• Comb and check for evenness.
The above is simple to follow for home long hair trimming. You should trim your hair frequently in-between getting a proper haircut.
